Establishment

Patasi is a young brand. It was established as a brand in 2017. But the story goes far in the past. It was 1996, at the very beginining of a decade long Maoist led Nepalese Civil War, when Mr. Bishnu Raj Pandey started Bajrayogini Pashmina. Violence and Safety issues were prevailing in the Nepalese economy as it was terrifying to go out and enjoy the amazing weather of Kathmandu without the fear of dying. Nevertheless, at the midst of the Civil War, Bajrayogini was on the verge of becoming one of the biggest Cashmere manufacturers in Nepal. This was the result of the two important words of wisdom Mr. Bishnu Raj Pandey always believed- Hard Work & Sincerity.

After the Civil War

One thing We are very proud of is the fact that we never deceived our Customers. As years went by and after a rough start, The biggest hurdle we faced was the introduction of various fake Pashmina product by deceiving sellers. There is a story here too. In truth, Cashmere and Pashmina are exactly the same thing. Pashmina is the other name of Cashmere that derives from Arabic. Cashmere, on the other hand, is a word derived from the Indian state of Kashmir. The powerful presence of the Indian government meant the word 'Cashmere' was trademarked in United States and, the UK and EU, while Pashmina was never trademarked. This meant people could actually sell anything in the name of Pashmina. This had led to the massive decline in exports of Nepali Cashmere. Currently, Nepal exports only 10% of the most successful years of export. For Bajrayogini Pashmina, existence was a question. We did not want to deceive our Customers after all the two words that shaped the existence of Bajrayogini were Hardwork and Sincerity.

Patasi Cashmere and Beyond

Bajrayogini Pashmina was on the verge of Bankruptcy when Ashim Pandey, the eldest son of Mr. Bishnu Raj Pandey took over. This was the beginning of the second generation of Pandey family at Bajrayogini. Slowly Bajrayogini was turned into a profit making business again. Having participated in various exhibitions, we realized one of the biggest problems prevailing in the markets for Nepali Cashmere was the existence of Fake products and/or products with misguiding labels. Initially, this was the reason Patasi Cashmere was established. We wanted to teach the world about Fake Cashmere by selling the Best Cashmere. In the two years of existence, the objective at Patasi has evolved a bit. Now, Patasi, is also a social benefit Business with small objectives that can bring about great changes in the Nepalese Society.
